incredibly popping monday function pulled together by Malcolm at FM Philly. many people told me beforehand that Or Best Offer were a band to see and they absolutely delivered. spidery falling over themselves slowmathindie thing with the drummer operating a suitcase full of electronic devices. Theadoore were also tight as hell, they were going at the same idea but from a more country and less devices oriented direction. and of course Cowpokes were something else as usual. somehow Dom climbing onto the drumkit, falling into Sam, and breaking most of the strings on his guitar was not the end of the set. beautiful evening.

neat little Outside Noise/FM Philly joint. two killer touring acts in Strumbrush and Nina Garbus, very magical sound, made me want to go to Atlanta sometime. Lateral were killer, i heard like four people seperately compliment a specific one of their songs (i was one of them). of course if you read this blog you understand i fuck with Artax and mICROgOBLET. also shout out to Baltimore photography goat Erin "Camera" Bennett, who drove up for this show and is visible in some of the crowd shots.

my desire to see Paul's new project (fangirl) results in me going to Luigi's for the third time in a week. pretty fun. i didn't get any photos of it but at one point first president of japan's guitarist ran all the way out of the basement, out onto the street, writhed around for a bit, and went back inside, all mid song. credit where credits due.

if you know me, you understand that i like Them Airs more than i reasonably should, and they're probably someplace in my alltime musical pantheon. the distilation of 40 years of art rock and post punk, the kitchen sink recording style, the bizarre sense of humor, it was extremely my shit before i listened to them a bunch and reinforced it. if you know me, you also understand that this bill is exclusively bands i don't shut up about. mICROgOBLET haven't worn off of me yet, Sallow Friend continue to be the band who wrote Haircut Is Cancelled, and Giant continue to make me feel like i'm gonna get attacked. beautiful evening.
